Privacy policy

The short version

• We use your furniture photos for cushion previews, furniture identification, starting size suggestions and measurement consistency checks.
• Your photos are stored privately on Cloudflare. OpenAI processes resized copies for previews and starting size suggestions.
• We never sell your information, use your photos for training or marketing, or send them to cushion makers.
• We have no advertising or analytics trackers. Essential cookies keep your guest workspace available and keep you signed in.
• Guest photos are deleted after seven days. Account photos are deleted after 90 days. You can delete them sooner at any time.

Who we are

Inset (shopinset.com) is a brand of Deep Forest AI, LLC ("Inset," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use our website, our design studio and our assistant connections for ChatGPT and Claude, and what we do with it. Questions go to hello@shopinset.com.

What we collect

Photos you upload

When you upload a photo of your furniture, your browser resizes it to no more than 1,600 pixels, and our server re-encodes it to remove embedded information such as location and camera details. You can add up to six photos per project. We store the resized copies, previews, furniture observations and starting size suggestions. Please upload photos of furniture, not people.

Your project details

The choices you make in the studio: furniture type, cushion quantities, measurements, fabric and construction choices, saved looks, photo-based starting size guesses, your answers to measurement checks and planning estimates.

Your email address, if you sign in

An account is optional. If you create one, we collect your email address and send you a one-time sign-in code. We store the code only in a protected, scrambled form, and it expires after ten minutes. We do not add you to a marketing list.

Messages you send us

Our question form prepares a draft in your email app. The website does not submit that draft. If you send it, or email us directly, we receive your email address, your message and your name if you include it. We use those details to answer you, not to subscribe you to marketing.

If you choose Email me this estimate, Cloudflare sends the estimate and your private project link to the address you enter. We use that address only for the requested email, not a marketing subscription.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies: one that ties a guest workspace to your browser, and one that keeps a verified account signed in for up to 30 days. They are secure, cannot be read by other sites, and are not used for advertising. If you clear them, a guest workspace is lost.

Technical information

Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical information such as your IP address and browser type when you visit. We use it to run the site, keep it secure and apply fair-use limits, for example on how many sign-in codes can be requested.

Assistant connections

If you connect Inset to ChatGPT or Claude, the assistant can read and update your Inset projects through the tools you allow. We receive the requests the assistant makes to those tools. We do not receive your chat history or files you share in the chat. Photos are always uploaded through our website, not taken from a conversation.

How we use it

• To create your fabric previews, suggest starting sizes, check measurement consistency and save your projects.
• To sign you in and keep your account secure.
• To prepare planning estimates. If ordering becomes available, we will update this policy before sharing order details or taking payment.
• To prevent abuse and keep the service running.
• To answer you when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use your photos to train AI models, in marketing, or as public examples.

Who else handles your information

• Cloudflare hosts the website and stores your photos, previews and project data in private storage. It also sends our sign-in, requested estimate and service emails.
• OpenAI creates previews and analyzes furniture photos. For analysis, it receives the resized photo and instructions to identify furniture and cushions, without personal account details. We use the observations to suggest typical starting sizes. For previews, it receives the resized furniture photo, an original Inset fabric swatch and our editing instructions. It does not receive your email address, account details or chat history. OpenAI does not train its models on this data by default. Its abuse-monitoring logs may contain the submitted content and are normally kept for up to 30 days, with safety and legal exceptions. Deleting your photo from Inset does not erase those records. See OpenAI's data controls.
• Cushion makers. We do not send your photos to cushion makers. When ordering is available, we will share the details needed to make and ship your order (specification, name and shipping address) with the workshop that makes it, and payment details will be handled by a payment provider. We will update this policy before ordering opens.
• Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers and our business.

How long we keep it

• Guest workspaces, with their photos and previews, are deleted seven days after they are created.
• Account photos, previews and photo analysis are deleted after 90 days.
• Account projects stay until you delete your account.
• You can delete a photo at any time with Delete photo. Access ends immediately, its saved looks and photo analysis are removed, and estimates that depend on it are invalidated. Other photos in the project remain.
• You can delete your account in settings. This signs you out everywhere, ends assistant access, and removes your account, photos and projects.
• Backup copies held by our infrastructure provider may last somewhat longer before they are overwritten.

Your choices and rights

You can use the studio without an account, delete photos and projects, sign out of all devices (which also ends assistant access), and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to receive a copy. Email hello@shopinset.com and we will respond within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

Security

Photos are kept in private storage with no public address. Viewing a photo requires access to its workspace and a temporary viewing link. Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only in protected form. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

Children

Inset is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top and, for account holders, tell you by email or on the site before the changes take effect.
